Thanks to Dekalb County Hisotry Center: This estate find was invented in DeKalb County, Georgia, by Mary C. Clayton, during the 1950's. It was intended to be worn under the popular full skirted evening gowns of the era. 'It was a must have at the time.'

Skirt construction and round carrying case appear to be celluloid
Cotton bias tape waistband and strapping fits up to 30 inch waist with snaps, but can be increased with additional bias tape or elastic
total length is 33 inches long
first graduated hoop is 50 inches
bottom hoop is 73 inches
expands by cross bars and each length drops by cotton strings
One broken cross bar at bottom hoop - can be tied together - does not effect the overall hoop function
This is a great find with its original carrying case - Condition is very good with normal wear and tear !
